Fashionistas celebrate the humble cup of tea at vintage inspired afternoon tea party in London
On Sunday 21st June, the capital’s most dedicated followers of fashion descended on East London’s Brick Lane for Just My Cup of Tea – an afternoon filled with tea, cake and fashion hosted by songstress and vintage fashion icon, VV Brown.
Over cups of tea in delicate vintage china, guests witnessed an exclusive fashion show and took part in swap-shop, or “swish” as it was called on the day. Using the vintage-wares brought by the guests, celebrity stylist, Alexis Knox, whipped up an array of stylish looks for the fashion show, and then guests were given a chance to rummage through the rails to find a “new” vintage treasure to take home.
Throughout the party, guests were invited to savour a variety of teas, from flowering to tea-infused cocktails, and courtesy of the insightful tea leaf readers, they even got a glimpse of their future – all in all, the ultimate tea experience.
VV Brown commented: “I was thrilled to be a part of the Just My Cup of Tea party – I am the ultimate tea fan so an afternoon of tea and vintage fashion is pure heaven for me. The guests were all true fashionistas, so we had a great time sharing our style tips over a cuppa and a tea-infused cocktail or two!”
