Gemma Collins is ‘set to return to the Radio 1 Teen Awards as a guest host’ one year after THAT fall through a trapdoor on stage

Charlotte Dean For Mailonline

She was left red-faced after tumbling feet-first through a trap door in front of horrified guests at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Award last year.

But proving she wasn’t shaken by the incident, Gemma Collins is rumoured to be returning to the awards later this year as a guest host.

The TOWIE star, 37, threatened to take legal action following the fall last October after plummeting through a hole which other stars were using to enter the stage.

However it appears that is now all in the past, as a source told the Sun that Radio 1 are keen to make amends with the reality favourite.

The insider said: ‘Last year’s fall made worldwide headlines and the clip had millions of views online.

‘Although it was genuinely scary for Gemma, it was a massive talking point and it’s only helped her profile grow.

‘Radio 1 of course wanted to invite her back and make amends for what happened and she jumped at the opportunity.’

MailOnline have contacted Gemma’s representative’s for further comment.

The reality star – who has also appeared on I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother – took to the stage to announce Love Island as the winner for Best TV Show when she was taken by surprise at the SSE Arena and fell into the hole.

Not realising that the stage beside her had dropped down, Gemma began to dance and twirl around to Ariana Grande’s Into You when she accidentally fell on top of ITV2 stars Jamie Jewitt, Amber Davies and Marcel Somerville

Proving that chivalry isn’t dead, Jamie and Marcel quickly turned towards Gemma to help her get back to her feet as the stage continued to raise up while Amber greeted the SSE Arena, demonstrating that the show must go on.

Putting on a brave face, the ITV darling reassured the 12,500 concert goers that she was OK following the nasty tumble.

She called out to packed out crowd: ‘Oh my god. Guys sorry about that. This is live, this is what happens.’

Although embarrassed about the mishap, Gemma admitted in an interview with show hosts Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw later that she was still having a ball.

She said: ‘Do you know what, apart from stacking it on stage? I’m having the best time of my life!’

Albeit making many chuckle, fans of the GC flooded Twitter to ask if she was OK, answering their cries she wrote to her 1.29 million followers.

She shared: ‘Guys it’s ok I’m alive I’ve always said I’m like Bridget Jones don’t worry everyone xx best and worst moment of my life’.

One worried fan commented: ‘So glad ok and, like Madonna, you were such a Trooper and dealt with it very professionally’.

Despite everyone’s worries, many admitted they couldn’t contain their laughter as the Queen of Memes raised the bar yet again with her hilarious but endearing antics.
